Dear class:
I regret to inform you that I won't be teaching the next five weeks of Advanced Two.
I have enjoyed working with all of you a lot, and it is only personal projects of a family nature that have led me to take this decision. The summer session is the only time of the year where instructors could teach for five or ten weeks in our School. I feel that with all the preparations for a big family reunion, I must take the time off, and enjoy the festivities that I am preparing for the month of August.
Please note that together with Rebecca, we will be providing you with midterm feedback tomorrow. I will also be available to answer any questions you may have regarding the rest of the course.
Rebecca will continue to be with you until the end of the course, and Perry Shearwood will be joining you in the mornings. I am sure that Perry will be very supportive, and maybe some of you have already met him, or even had him as your teacher.
Continue working hard, and remember that concluding Advanced Two successfully is your main priority at this moment. Best wishes to all of you!!
Sincerely,
Estrella

Week 5 - International Lunch- Research Project
Dear Class:
It was great to read your comments on how the research project is going. Yes, it is frustrating at times, specially if we do not find the right sources, but keep checking. You are on the right track!!
You can try to divide your main topic into three aspects or ideas, and start freewriting on these ideas. You can try this activity during the whole week. You will be amazed at how much you will have written by the end of the week!!
Unfortunately, Rebecca and myself regret to inform you that it won't be possible to have the International Lunch as scheduled on Thursday of next week (July 17th). We have to be able to finish the midterm examinations and will be operating on a really "tight" schedule all week.
With all, we should be able to have it in Week 6.
Keep your spirits high, as we have accomplished major projects so far, and we are proceeding according to our original plans.
See you all tomorrow!

Research Project - Weekend Assignment
Dear A2 class:
You have begun the process of collecting the information which will be later used to write the paper. You may have found interesting references so far, or perhaps not. Maybe you have been able to locate an interesting book or article related to your topic.
Over the weekend, you can post on your blog some comments on this experience of collecting your future references.
- Are you experiencing problems locating interesting sources of information?
- Has your experience been positive so far? Are there any frustrations?
- What suggestions would you want to share with at least two other classmates on this process of collecting your references?
This activity will give you the opportunity to reflect in this stage of collecting the information, and perhaps give you a chance to interact with other classroom partners. I will be reading your blogs over the weekend.
Feel free to print your blog and bring it to class for discussion next Monday, July 14th.
